Project Sixty Seven: A Personalised Drawstring Bag for a Boy

July 14, 2011

It’s party season here, July seems to be a popular month to be born, and the boy has party invitations coming out of his ears. As part of my home-made pledge I am continuing to make all presents and gifts. It’s a doddle making pretty things for women and girls, and I’ve just about mastered the ideal present for men with my spanner case, but when it comes to 8-year-old boys, I am at a bit of a loss. After much pondering, an attempt at discussing it with the boy, and some insomnia-induced brainstorming, I have decided that a simple personalised drawstring bag will make a good enough present.

So, without further ado, I present the first personalised drawstring bag of the birthday season: Oliver’s plane bag. I used some heavy striped fabric from Ikea, and appliqeud the letters and plane on using polka dot black cotton. I also used the spotty black cotton to make the drawstring. The boy approves and assures me Oliver will like it.

I am sorry I haven’t been posting very regularly recently, things have jus been really busy, but I promise I shall be back more frequently from now on, with lots of new projects to share with you all! I’d love to keep writing, but I really must go now and get on with sewing another present, this time for a girl. It’s actually ingenious and I can’t wait to share it here, so watch this space!
