Death by Sugar
It’s half term this week, and while I have been busy sewing the boy has been experimenting with his culinary skills in the kitchen. Yesterday he made these huge (and I mean huge) American style Smartie cookies with his friend , and they turned out so big I convinced them that sharing one would be enough (urban myth or not, I didn’t want to run the risk of them bouncing off the walls from all that sugar, or have to deal with the fallout during their comedown). It was enough, and after supper when I suggested they have another cookie for pudding they split a cookie between them, even they knew one would be too much! They were very good, but the boy was a bit disappointed that they didn’t turn out as gooey as hoped, so he will be experimenting some more to get the gooiness just right.
mmmm, smarties are so very pretty.
They look lovely. Mine are only ever interested in licking the bowl.
I suspect it’s probably really bad form, but try the recipe I posted on mumsnet here..

by trial and error I think I’ve worked out that the trick to properly gooey cookies is the mix of light and dark brown sugars.
Not bad form at all Becky, thanks for sharing, I shall give yor recipe a go!
