Sorting and Organising

February 5, 2011

Today Mr. B and I spend most of the day tackling the mammoth task of sorting out and re-organising all our storage space and paperwork. For a few hours the whole flat was in chaos as we emptied out our two cluttered up cupboards and our filing cabinet and got to work sorting through boxes, throwing things out, shredding paper that had been kept for far too long, and re-organising everything.

Mr. B was great at keeping me on task, and made about a hundred trips down to the recycling bins with all our accumulated rubbish.

I don’t really want to show everyone quite how bad the cupboards where, but here are a few before and after shots for your amusement.

We weren’t even using the big hooks on the wall that I specifically hung there for our camping and climbing equipment! I was all just thrown into the cupboard! Very sloppy of us.

We finally got round to buying a storage trunk for the balcony for all the tools, which freed up most of the cluttered cupboard space. We also got some stacking storage drawers to replace the old cardboard boxes we had been piling on top of each other higgledy-piggledy.

If you can believe it, I actually took this photo halfway through emptying the cupboard, so imagine it with double the contents all crammed in! Not good. It is so much nicer now:

I like to use big hooks to help organise my space, the big ones I use in these cupboards were form Ikea and are great for hanging big heavy things on. Great for freeing up floor space and for easier access in crowded small spaces.
